A word from Emileigh’s Sister

Grief is love with nowhere to go, but here, in this space, I let it flow. This is where I share my thoughts, my memories, and my endless love for my sister, Emileigh. Thank you for being here, for remembering her with me, and for keeping her spirit alive.

Being sisters means sharing a bond that nothing in this world can break. It means growing up with a built-in best friend, someone who knows your heart, your secrets, and your soul without you ever having to say a word. Sisters laugh together, cry together, and hold each other up through every storm.

Losing a sister is like losing a part of yourself. The world keeps moving, but a piece of your heart stays frozen in time, longing for one more hug, one more conversation, one more “I love you.” And, let’s be honest—one more argument where she swore she was right (because, according to her, she always was). I can almost hear her now, rolling her eyes and saying, “I told you so.”

To everyone who has kept Emileigh’s memory alive, thank you. Thank you for speaking her name, for sharing her stories, for reminding the world of the light she brought into it. Your love and support mean everything, and knowing that she is still remembered, still cherished, makes the pain a little softer.

And now, the Cooper sisters live on in a new generation—our two beautiful nieces, the newest little forces of nature in this family. They may not get to grow up with their Aunt Emileigh by their side, but because of all of you, they will know her. They’ll hear the stories, they’ll feel her love, and they’ll carry a piece of her fiery, unstoppable spirit with them always.

Emileigh, you are missed beyond words. You are loved beyond measure. And you will never, ever be forgotten—especially because I can still hear your voice correcting me from beyond.

Much love,
Sharissa
